Prevelle Silk is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel that can improve hydration of the skin and restore volume to achieve a softer, smoother, more youthful look. Like other HA fillers, it works by filling in areas of the skin that have become hollowed out, wrinkled or saggy over time.

These effects of aging are common and result when our natural store of HA is depleted over the years. Injecting a small amount of purified HA can help to combat this depletion, restoring your skin to its natural glow and healthy tone.

While its basic formula is the same, there are a few things that set Prevelle apart from other fillers. First and foremost is the fact that it also contains a small amount of the local anesthetic lidocaine, helping to relieve any discomfort associated with treatment. This means it can be applied quickly and easily, with a minimal amount of recovery time and almost instant results. You can have your treatment done on your lunch hour and be back to work without anyone being the wiser!

How Is Prevelle Silk Applied?

As with any dermal filler, it is injected directly into the area that requires treatment. It is most commonly used to treat the nasolabial folds and other soft areas of the face where fine lines and wrinkles may be an issue. Though it contains a small amount of lidocaine, your doctor can apply a local anesthetic to the site to further diminish any pain.

The entire procedure can take as little as 30 minutes and will require no extended recovery time. You can even go back to wearing makeup within a few hours after treatment, provided there are no complications. You’ll want to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, the use of tanning beds and strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment.

As with other hyaluronic acid treatments it is not recommended for all patients. Individuals with serious drug related allergies or other serious allergic reactions should not receive treatment with Prevelle, nor should those with a sensitivity to the type of bacterial proteins found in this product or a sensitivity to lidocaine. Also, this product should not be injected at any site where there is already an active infection or inflammation, including pimples, cysts, rashes or hives. Treatment should be postponed until these conditions have cleared up.

What Kind Of Results Can Be Expected?

Though individual results will vary from patient to patient, in most cases you can expect to see more fullness and a softer skin tone in the areas that are treated. These results should be noticeable almost immediately after treatment and, thanks to Prevelle’s unique formula, they should last between 3 and 6 months.

Some individuals may need repeat treatments more frequently and in some cases, an additional touch up treatment may be needed 1 to 2 weeks after the initial injection to achieve the desired result.

Are There Any Side Effects?

The side effects of Prevelle are similar to those of other HA based dermal fillers. They include redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, pain and itching at the site of the injection, all of which should clear up within seven days.

Prevelle should never be injected directly into the blood vessels, as this could cause severe complications. For this reason, it is critical that you never receive treatment from anyone other than a licensed dermatologist.
